How About Going Back To The Future?

Back to the Future is one of those movies you should watch at least once a year. But I must admit, it’s been years since I’ve last seen this movie. And probably even more would have passed until it would have finally crossed my mind to watch it again. That is if I hadn’t come across Back to the Future: The Game.

First of all, the graphics are absolutely great. If Back to the Future would be turned into an animation movie, this game would be a great source of inspiration. And the story. It follows the movie script, but allows you to also be a part of it. To make your choices. Choices that don’t necessarily change the outcome of the story, but rather help you gather more information and prepare your next move.

Back to the Future: The Game is the classical mystery game, where your main purpose is to discover things to help you solve your quests. After testing his time machine on Einstein (the dog, of course), both Doc and his dog mysteriously disappear. So, now it’s up to Marty to solve this puzzle and find them. But this is just the beginning of the adventure called Back to the Future: The Game.

Now, I was extremely pleased with the graphics, as I’ve already stated. The game is pretty much as I’ve expected it to be. But it’s pretty time consuming. I mean, it sometimes seems like forever until you discover the right item to keep you going on. And then there are even more puzzle pieces to find and match. So, by the time you finish this puzzle and crack the mystery, you already have a couple of hours of game play behind you. And there’s room for improvement with the game controls as well.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean I didn’t like the game. After all, it would have probably been easier to crack the mystery and discover the hidden items if it wasn’t so long since I last saw the movie. But, in all fairness, the game itself was also not quite as exciting as I would have expected it to be. One thing’s for sure, though: this weekend I’m definitely having a Back to the Future marathon.
